Lamorinda Moms is run by volunteer members. Each year, approximately 20 women hold leadership positions on a governing body called the Steering Committee, which plans and executes all the club’s activities. The Steering Committee is supported by dozens of  members who help manage every aspect of the club.

Why volunteer? You’ll make friends with other local moms, support activities and events that benefit your family, and keep your brain cells engaged. Some members do what they know best—for example, our publicity chairs work in PR, our treasurer was a bookkeeper in her previous career, etc.—but many choose to contribute in ways they simply find fun, convenient, and meaningful. Some members choose positions that challenge them to learn new skills.

There are so many ways to get involved, with different levels of participation. Here are some of the ways you can make a difference.

Interested in making a big impact?

Don’t have a lot of time to give?

  • Prepare a meal for a LM friend/neighbor who just had a baby
  • Collect donations during a community outreach activity
  • Help at a holiday event (bring cookies, make signs, welcome members, etc.)

Open Steering Committee Positions

We are actively recruiting for Steering Committee members for 2010-2011.

Steering Committee members serve from September to August. If you haven’t volunteered for anything before, or if you are new to the club, this is a fantastic way to get to know other members!

On-Going Volunteer Opportunities

Attention Playgroups:  Refreshments Needed!
We’re looking for a few good women to volunteer to supply refreshments for the LM General Meetings – not every meeting, just one time only!  LM General Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month (except December and August) at St. Mark’s Church, 451 Moraga Way, Orinda.  Ideally, we have one playgroup volunteer for one month of the year. We need nine playgroups to volunteer. The Meeting Refreshment Coordinators will help you with all of the logistics (a list of what to bring, etc). This is an easy way to get involved without too much of a time commitment.

Make a Mom Din
Make and deliver dinner for an LM member in your neighborhood who has just had a baby. Sign up when it’s convenient for you, and meet a new friend whose new baby might just attend school with your child(ren) in a few years. Learn more by visiting the Mom Din page.
